Invisalign straightens teeth virtually invisibly through the use of a series of clear, removable aligner trays that fit snugly over the teeth. When you’re being treated with Invisalign at our Newport Beach office, you can improve your smile very discreetly and conveniently, so your orthodontic treatment doesn’t interfere with your daily activities or lifestyle.
How Invisalign® Works
Depending upon each patient’s individual needs, a set number of custom-made aligners (between 12 and 48) are created through the use of advanced 3D computer imaging technology. The aligners are designed to be worn consecutively wherein each set is replaced approximately every two weeks with the next set in the series and so on, until the teeth are in brought into the proper alignment which has been carefully planned out by Dr. Starnes, our Costa Mesa orthodontist. The aligners are to be worn for 22 hours each day and can be removed when eating and drinking and when brushing and flossing. Since the aligners are made of a clear plastic material, they are virtually invisible for very discreet treatment.
A Highly Convenient Way to Get a Million Dollar Smile!
Patients who wear Invisalign love how convenient this treatment method is. They can continue enjoying all their favorite foods throughout the treatment process including hard, crunchy, and chewy foods and never have to worry about maintaining good oral hygiene as the aligners are simply removed when eating and when brushing and flossing. The aligners can also be removed temporarily for the occasional special event like school or family photos or job interviews, as long as they’re put back in right away when done.
Invisalign can be used to treat many mild to moderate orthodontic problems in teenagers and adults, like gapped or crowded teeth, an overbite, underbite, or crossbite. However, this treatment method is not for everyone as it is not designed to treat severe orthodontic problems. And since the aligners must be worn for 22 hours each day, anyone wanting to be treated with Invisalign must be 100% certain that they can be compliant with wearing the aligners as directed.
