Metal
Braces
Metal braces are the most common type. They are made of
high grade stainless steel. Today's metal braces are smaller,
more comfortable, and more attractive.
Ceramic
Braces
Ceramic braces are made of translucent (clear) material.
They are most popular with adult patients, due to their
cosmetic appeal. The only drawback to ceramic brackets are
that they are more fragile and the elastic ties can discolor
between orthodontic visits.
Wear
Clarity Braces and you'll have a lot to smile
about. A comfortable design. An attractive, translucent
appearance. And perhaps best of all, the self-confidence
that comes from wearing braces that look as good as they
perform.
Unlike traditional metal braces, you won't have to worry
about flashing a "tin grin" every time you smile.
You'll feel better about yourself knowing that the natural
beauty of your teeth is shining through, and not your braces.
Clarity Braces won't stain or discolor. They'll look
as good the day they come off as the day your orthodontist
put them on. Clarity Braces will stay securely in
place throughout your treatment. And the metal-lined slot
allows for faster treatment. Smooth, sculptured and translucent,
Clarity Braces are clearly the ultimate fashion accessory
in orthodontic wear.
Gold
Braces
Gold braces are stainless steel braces coated with 24 karat
gold, and are popular with patients of all ages.
Invisalign
The Invisalign System is a series of clear overlay templates—called
aligners—that have been generated by computer simulation
to gradually move the teeth. This system is available to
adult patients with certain orthodontic bite problems. Ask
us if you are a candidate for the Invisalign system.
Lingual
Braces
Lingual
braces are the best and only totally non-visible form of
fixed orthodontic therapy. Invented in 1979 by the late
Dr. Craven Kurtz in
Beverly Hills, lingual braces have continued to evolve making
them a truly reliable form of orthodontic therapy by using
principles similar to those of traditional braces.
Special
instrumentation, equipment, doctor and staff training are
required for this technique. These braces can be used on
both arches or in combination with outside clear braces
on the lower teeth.
Lingual
braces are comparable to outside braces in comfort; affecting
the tongue instead of the cheeks and lips. Patients take
approximately 1-4 weeks to achieve a good comfort level
with both.
Lingual
braces do tend to be more expensive than conventional braces.
Lingual braces are specifically made to each patient's teeth
and special doctor and staff training is needed to properly
implement this treatment.
Treatment
time with lingual braces does not take longer than with
outside braces. Sometimes treatment takes less time, due
to certain mechanical advantages of the appliance.
Most
patients are good candidates for lingual braces, but there
are a few exceptions. Your orthodontist will determine the
type of braces most beneficial for your treatment.
Lingual
braces may affect your speech. The amount will depend on
the patient's dental arch form and tongue position. In most
patients this will be temporary and of short duration.
